Blogs and presentations

Noura, Khalid, Austin, Stephanie, Mohammed Al-Baadi and Hala should be ready to do your practice presentations this Tuesday (June 28th). The final presentations will be on July 5th, July 11th and July 12th.

Tuesday 28th June is the deadline for completion of your blogs. I will be marking them shortly after this date.

Please remember also to print out a copy of the slides that you use for your presentation and bring them with you on the day that you do your presentation. Your presentation will not be markde without this.

Presentations and Blogs

The deadline for finishing this term's blogs is next Tuesday 28th June. Some of you have a lot of work to do before then.

You must be ready to do a practice run of your presentation tomorrow (June 21st). This presentation is a very important part of you assessment for British Studies, being worth 40% of your total marks, so please take this opportunity for feedback so that you can make some improvements.

Social Class

This week we will be learning about social class in the UK. Traditionally people have been classed as working class, middle class or upper class.

Based on the notes that you made while watching the programme, summarise the differences between a northern working class girl and an urban upper class girl. Think about the areas of general behaviour, voice/accent, posture and appearance. What tasks were undertaken by the 3 people assigned to help her change? Did any of the differences particularly surprise you?

Sport in the UK

The National Health Service

Summarize those aspects of the NHS that you find most interesting. You DO NOT need to write a comprehensive account of everything that you have learned. CHOOSE from the following ideas: history, benefits to people living in the UK, services provided by the NHS, problems faced by the NHS today.

Watch the 3 videos on the NHS website. Comment on one of them in your blog.

Khalid - I can no longer leave comments on your blog. Have you disabled comments? You still have a blog post written in a tiny grey font on a black background, which is very difficult to read without straining my eyes. Please change the size and the colour of the font.
